Fans criticize Kim Kardashian for donning Princess Diana’s iconic cross necklace, calling it ‘vulgаr’

Fans have slammed Kim Kardashian for wearing Princess Diana’s iconic cross necklace, labeling the fashion choice as “vulgar.”

The 44-year-old reality star showcased the antique amethyst necklace at the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday.

She styled the symbolic piece, which Diana famously wore at a charity event in 1987, with a plunging white gown that highlighted her ample cleavage and other statement jewelry.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star acquired the Attallah Cross at a Sotheby’s auction for nearly $200,000 in 2023, marking its debut appearance over the weekend.

Critics were quick to call the mother-of-four “sleаzy” and “tone deaf” regarding her fashion choice.

“She turned it into something vulgar,” one user remarked on X.

“She had the audacity to wear it with this dress. Purely tone deaf and uneducated—narcissistic and unattractive,” another commented.

The multimedia superstar completed her outfit with an ivory coat, which she wore off the shoulder.

To enhance her overall appearance for the event, Kardashian styled her dark hair in a sleek bob with a left-side part, while her makeup featured winged eyeliner, brown eyeshadow, and a nudе lip.

The Attallah Cross, named after its previous owner Naim Attallah, a Palestinian-British businessman, was lent to Diana throughout the 1980s.

Diana, Princess of Wales, was photographed wearing the pendant on a string of pearls at the 1987 Birthright charity gala, where she sported a purple velvet gown by Catherine Walker.

Originally crafted by Garrand in the 1920s, the Attallah Cross showcases square-cut amethysts set among 5.25 carats of circular-cut diamonds.

With 900 pearls, the late Princess of Wales wore it at numerous events, including film and theater premieres throughout the years.

“She wants so badly to be connected to the Royal Family,” one commenter noted.

“Could Kim look any more slеazy? She’s fakе from head to toe,” remarked another.

One user added, “A perfect example of class versus trash.”

“If you’re going to wear such a sacred religious symbol, at least do it with the class that Diana did. Show some respect…” another commenter said.

Another observer pointed out her plunging neckline, saying, “The bоobs are practically out waving around while wearing a giant cross necklace—so tacky.”

“Wearing a cross while exposing your brеasts is a strange choice, Kim,” another user commented.

“Kim is so eager to be remembered alongside other iconic women like Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and Princess Diana, believing she can buy her way to that level of fame,” commented one user.

This isn’t the first occasion she’s worn a significant piece once owned by a notable figure; she famously donned Marilyn Monroe’s “Happy Birthday Mr. President” dress at the Met Gala in 2022.

Shortly after, she faced accusations from The Marilyn Monroe Collection of damaging the nudе gown, stating it had “missing crystals” and that some were left “hanging by a thread.”

Princess Diana, born Diana Frances Spencer, became an enduring international icon through her activism and glamour. She tragically passed away at just 36 in a car crash in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris on August 31, 1997, while her driver was evading paparazzi.
