Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. is already following in her mother’s footsteps, making strides in the sports world. Today, it was announced that the two-year-old, along with her mother, tennis icon Serena Williams, have become co-owners of a new woмеn’s soccer team based in Los Angeles, currently known as Angel City until an official naме is unveiled.
The news of Alexis’s involvement was shared through her “official” Twitter account, managed by her parents, along with an adorable photo.
The National Woмеn’s Soccer League (NWSL) revealed that this groundbreaking team, spearheaded by Academy Award winner Natalie Portman among others, is predominantly founded by woмеn. Notable Hollywood figures such as Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Garner, Eva Longoria, and Uzo Aduba are among the founding investors. Additionally, Serena Williams’s husband, entrepreneur Alexis Ohanian, played a pivotal role in the initial fundraising efforts for the team. This initiative comes in response to fan demand for not only a woмеn’s soccer team in the region but also one led by influential woмеn across sports, technology, and media sectors.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the venture, Ohanian stated, “I am thrilled to be part of this remarkable team working towards establishing a woмеn’s professional football club in Los Angeles. My passion for the sport, coupled with the belief in its immense potential, drives my involvement. Moreover, as a father who enjoys playing football with my young daughter, I am eager for her to witness this pivotal moment. Investing in woмеn’s sports aligns with our family values, as we aspire to contribute to a brighter future for our daughter by creating more opportunities in sports.”
