Darwin Nunez has expressed his deep gratitude to Luis Suarez following the legendary striker’s announcement that he will retire from international football after the match against Paraguay.
Suarez, who has been a cornerstone of the Uruguayan national team for over a decade, will bow out with a record 69 goals in 142 appearances. Nunez, a current national teammate of Suarez, has had the privilege of playing alongside the iconic forward for the past five years.
In a touching tribute on social media, Nunez wrote, “Thank you from the heart for everything you did for me in the national team. You were my idol without knowing you and you are even more so now that I know you.”
Nunez added, “As you said, you came as a child and leave as a legend. It’s everyone’s dream and you fulfilled it.”
