ļ»æKeanu Reeves brought lively energy to the panel for his Netflix project BRZRKR: The Immortal Saga Unleashed at San Diego Comic-Con.
The film, based on Reeves’ own book series, follows an immortal warrior named B. who becomes an asset to the U.S. government, using his violent tendencies to complete missions. On the panel, Keanu ā who toured with his rock band Dogstar this summer ā was engaged and cheerful, dressed in his signature all-black outfit: a suit jacket over a V-neck, untucked T-shirt, and black pants.
A movie adaptation and an animated series based on the books were announced in 2021. At Comic-Con, writer Matt Tomlinson revealed that a draft of the film script has been completed.
The source material is packed with action scenes, and the immortal nature of the protagonist allows for endless spinoff possibilities. The storyline echoes some of Reeves’ past roles in the John Wick and Matrix franchises.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of The Matrix, and Reeves got emotional discussing the iconic series on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earlier this month. Reflecting on the impact of The Matrix, Reeves said, “The Matrix changed my life, and over the years, it has positively affected so many others.”
Reeves’ role as Neo in the 1999 film skyrocketed his career and solidified his enduring popularity. He reprised the role in three sequels: The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions in 2003, and The Matrix Resurrections in 2021.
On The Graham Norton Show in 2021, Reeves shared his excitement about returning to the character, recalling how director Lana Wachowski convinced him with a compelling story, saying, “How I am alive will all be explained.”
