Serena Williams expressed the sentiments of countless disappointed Olympic fans as she made an anguished face during the opening ceremony.

The tennis icon appeared worn out while riding a high-speed boat down the River Seine as a torchbearer for the Paris Games.

Accompanied by Rafael Nadal, nine-time Olympic gold medallist Carl Lewis, and former Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci, Williams faced driving rain and rough waters.

The boat was part of a four-hour ceremony focused on the French capital’s river, moving so quickly that Nadal worried the flame might go out.

As the South Korean delegation sailed down the Seine, they were introduced with the official namе for North Korea: ‘Republique populaire democratique de Coree’ in French, then ‘Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’ in English.

The IOC issued an apology on its official Korean-language X account: ‘We deeply apologize for the mistake that occurred when introducing the South Korean team during the broadcast of the opening ceremony.’

Hundreds of thousands of spectators watched 6,800 athletes in plastic ponchos trying to stay positive while traveling down the Seine in a flotilla of 85 boats.

Among the various artistic tableaus, named after French values like freedom, fraternity, and equality, the ‘festivité’ scene caused the most controversy.

Complete with models, dancers, fashion icons, and drag queens from the host nation, the performance took place on a bridge over the Seine around a table that doubled as a catwalk.

At the center was a woman with a golden halo-style crown in front of DJ equipment, surrounded by several drag queens and dozens of dancers and performers.

Some accused the organizers of creating a ‘woke’ parody of the Last Supper, Leonardo da Vinci’s painting depicting Jesus’ last meal with his disciples.

Tesla and SpaceX owner Elon Musk, who has faced criticism for his conservative beliefs, wrote on X, formerly Twitter: ‘Christianity has become toothless.’

Later in the show, a bizarre moment featured a giant platter with fake fruits and a ‘smurf’ resting among them.

The man, dressed in a skintight blue bodysuit that left little to the imagination, was portraying Dionysus, the Greek God of wine, festivity, and theatre.
