Keanu Reeves Explаins Why He Tᴜrned Down a Role in the ‘Fаst & Furious’ Frаnchise

Keanu Reeves turned down opportunities to join the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise on two separate occasions.

For the latest installment, ‘Fast X’, Reeves passed on the role of Aimes, the leader of The Agency, a part that eventually went to Alan Ritchson. Ritchson, who was initially cast in the role due to a shift in plans involving Reeves, described his casting as a mix of luck and good timing.

“I was filming [Ordinary Angels] with Hilary Swank in Winnipeg and got a call saying that things had changed with Keanu Reeves, who was originally considered for my role,” Ritchson said. “It was a tough act to follow.”

The production faced significant setbacks, including a major blizzard in Winnipeg, which led to a temporary halt in filming. Ritchson noted, “It was disheartening, but we managed to push through.”

Reeves was also approached for a villainous role in ‘Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw’, where Ryan Reynolds eventually took on the part of Eteon Director. Director David Leitch revealed that although they had discussed the possibility of Reeves joining the film, “the timing wasn’t right” due to Reeves’ other commitments at the time. Leitch expressed hope that they might collaborate on a future project.
