Alicia Keys was seen strolling alongside her mother, Terria Joseph, through JFK Airport in her cherished hometown of New York City this Monday.
The 38-year-old music sensation had just wrapped up a remarkable evening as the host of the Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.
During the event, she graced the stage with multiple musical performances, captivating the audience with her talent, including a mesmerizing act where she played two pianos simultaneously.
Early in the night, Alicia, along with Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Jennifer Lopez, delivered a powerful speech paying homage to music and wоmen.
Michelle received an enthusiastic response from the audience, reminiscing warmly about the Motown records she cherished from her upbringing on Chicago’s south side.
Alicia’s solo performance showcased a medley of songs ranging from Nat King Cole’s “Unforgettable” to Coldplay’s “Clocks.” She also delivered a stirring rendition of her iconic collaboration with Jay-Z, “Empire State Of Mind,” which she first debuted a decade ago.
Later in the evening, Alicia participated as a guest star in Jennifer’s controversial tribute medley to Motown’s 60th anniversary. Despite initial backlash online due to Jennifer not being a Motown artist, she was supported by Motown legend Smokey Robinson, who joined her onstage in a vibrant scarlet and black suit.
Ahead of the Grammy Awards, Smokey expressed his perspective to Variety, stating, “Motown was music for everybody. Everybody.” This sentiment was echoed by Motown founder Berry Gordy, who was visibly delighted in the audience.
During the tribute medley, Alicia teamed up with Jennifer to perform Motown classics like “Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone,” “Wɑr,” and “Square Biz,” adding her own flair to the celebrated hits.
