Keanu Reeves kicked off his weekend early by performing with his rock band Dogstar in Hollywood.
The 59-year-old actor and musician took the stage at Amoeba Records on Thursday night, supporting his band’s new album, Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees, which was released on October 6.
Reeves donned a black Amoeba Music Hollywood t-shirt and played a black bass guitar, completing his look with black pants.
Reeves formed Dogstar in 1991 with Robert Mailhouse and Gregg Miller, with Brett Domrose joining in 1994. They released an EP, Quattro Formaggi, in 1996 and their debut album, Our Little Visionary, followed by their second album, Happy Ending, in 1999 before disbanding in 2002.
The band occasionally reunited for jam sessions over the years, but during the CоVID-19 pаndеmic in 2020, they spent more time together in quarantine, turning jam sessions into songwriting, which led to a new album.
They announced their return in a July 2022 Instagram post and performed for the first time in two decades at the BottleRock Napa Valley Music Festival in May 2023.
Dogstar released their first single, Everything Turns Around, in mid-July and announced a 25-date tour in support of the new album, beginning August 10 in Hermosa Beach, California.
Upcoming performances include the Ventura Music Hall in Ventura on August 26, the Belly Up Tavern in Solano Beach on August 27, and The Observatory in Santa Ana on August 28.
The tour will also take them to Japan for several dates in September before returning to the U.S. for shows through the fall and early winter, concluding with two performances at the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville on December 20 and 21.
