Keanu Reeves has a new opportunity for a sequel that could potentially enhance his career more than reprising his famous role as the Baba Yaga in John Wick: Chapter 5. While John Wick stands as Reeves’ most iconic role of the 21st century, it wasn’t his initial starring franchise role. Before portraying John Wick, Reeves starred as time-traveling slacker Ted “Theodore” Logan in the Bill & Ted series and as the messianic figure Neo in The Matrix trilogy, showcasing other sequel possibilities beyond John Wick.

While there’s been no confirmation of a sequel to Bill & Ted Face the Music, Warner Bros. has begun development on another installment in The Matrix series. Drew Goddard has secured the role of writer and director for a fifth Matrix film after a successful pitch, with Lana Wachowski returning as an executive producer. Despite ongoing rumors about Reeves returning to the John Wick franchise, starring in a new Matrix film could arguably be a more compelling sequel option for him.
