Actor Don Cheadle, portraying an Atlanta police detective, issues a stark warning in the newly released first trailer for “FigҺt Night: The Million Dollar Heist,” an upcoming eight-episode series from Memphis filmmaker Craig Brewer set to premiere on Peacock on September 5. The trailer, unveiled by Peacock on Wednesday, June 12, introduces viewers to a group of daring criminals dubbed by heist mastermind Chicken Man (Kevin Hart) as “the baddest mothers around.” Joining Hart are Samuel L. Jackson, Taraji P. Henson, and Terrence Howard, all decked out in vibrant and flamboyant 1970s attire.
This ensemble marks a Brewer reunion, reuniting Howard and Henson, stars of Brewer’s Oscar-winning 2005 film “Hustle & Flow,” and including Jackson, known for his role in Brewer’s locally produced 2007 film “Black Snake Moan.”
Co-created and written by Shaye Ogbonna, with Brewer serving as an executive producer alongside Hart and Will Packer, “FigҺt Night” chronicles the planning, execution, and aftermath of a notorious armed robbery following Muhammad Ali’s comeback bout against Jerry Quarry. Shot earlier this year in Atlanta, the series, directed by Brewer for its pivotal episodes, promises a blend of comedic and drаmаtic tones reminiscent of true-crime classics like “Goodfellas” and “BlacKkKlansman.” Kevin Hart expressed his immense excitement about the project, telling Vanity Fair, “I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited about something in my life.”
