Kevin Hart shares a heartwarming story about the importance of reading your Bible. Known for his storytelling prowess, the comedian sat down with Oprah for an episode on Prime that aired on Sunday, March 23. During their conversation, Hart touched on various topics, including his connection with fans, his recent successes, and a clever move his mother made when he was still a struggling comedian.
Hart recounted that when he first told his mother about his dream of becoming a comedian, she responded supportively, saying, “I’m not a dream killеr,” and offered to help him. She promised to pay his rent for a year to give him a chance to prove himself.
Although Hart was making connections and enjoying standup comedy, he was struggling financially and fell behind on his rent. He recalled telling Oprah, “I haven’t paid my rent in a month. I’m like, ‘Mom, the rent. Where’s the rent?’” Her response was, “Have you been reading your Bible?”
After another month passed and he received an eviction notice, Hart approached his mother again in a pаnic. Her reply was the same: “Talk to me when you read your Bible.” Frustrated, Hart finally opened his Bible, only to discover six months’ worth of rent checks hidden inside. “She put all my rent checks in the Bible…they were all there,” Hart revealed, to the surprise of both himself and Oprah.
