Just days after spending his birthday lingering around a warehouse with a solitary cupcake, the melancholic Keanu Reeves has been spotted again. This time, Reeves appeared forlorn and desolate while smoking a cigarette next to a “no loitering” sign.

The 46-year-old actor sported a scruffy, unshaven look and dressed entirely in somber black, adding yet another depressing image to his growing collection. Sipping on a Starbucks coffee, Reeves looked burdened as he stood next to his SUV in New York.

Last week, in another brooding photograph, the Matrix actor was seen seated outside a film prop warehouse on his 46th birthday, accompanied only by a cupcake with a single candle. At one point, he was observed talking on his phone near the loading dock, dressed in jeans, a flannel shirt, and a grey blazer under the sweltering New York heat.

From images of him eating a sandwich on a park bench to shots of him walking the streets with a beard and a somber expression, these visuals have contributed to the “sad Keanu” internet meme, with bloggers and forums emphasizing his downcast demeanor.

Reeves, whose first nɑme translates to “cool breeze over the mountains” in Hawaiian, was born in Beirut, Lebanon. His mother was a showgirl, and his father, who deserted him at the age of three, was a geologist who later served time in jail for hеroin trafficking. Despite his troubled upbringing, Reeves rose to fɑme as Ted in the cult classic time-travel comedy, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.

He subsequently became a prominent action star with roles in films like Speed opposite Sandra Bullock and the cyber-adventure series, The Matrix, for which he earned a substantial £10 million per film for the last two installments, Reloaded and Revolutions.
