Ben Affleck, 51, has finally addressed why he tends to have a 'resting b***h face' in photos while also opening up about 'Sad Affleck' memes

The 51-year-old Oscar winner, who recently commented on his wife Jennifer Lopez’s overwhelming fɑme, discussed the topic during a recent episode of Kevin Hart’s talk show, Hart to Heart.

In the interview, which took place before rumors of a split between Ben and Jennifer started to circulate, Affleck explained, “I’m also a little bit shy. I don’t like a lot of attention.”

The Oscar winner - who recently made rare comments about wife Jennifer Lopez as he says her fame is 'bananas' - discussed the topic during the latest episode of Kevin Hart 's talk show, Hart to Heart; seen in February 2023 in L.A.

“That’s why people see me and think, ‘Why does this guy always look mɑd?’ because someone shoves a camera in my face and I think, ‘Alright, here we go again.'”

And back in 2016, while promoting Batman Vs, Superman: Dawn Of Justice, the star was the center of 'Sad Affleck' memes due to looking downcast during a press junket for the film with Henry Cavill

However, Affleck expressed more concern when it comes to his children being photographed. “Honestly, I’d rather do something more definitive than just give you this look,” he said.

“I don’t mind if you take my picture at a club or a premiere, with my wife [Jennifer Lopez], I don’t care. Knock yourself out. I don’t even notice you. But when it involves my kids, that’s a different story.”

'That's why people see me and they're like, "Why's this dude always mad?" Because somebody has their camera and sticks it in my face and I'm like, "Okay, here we go"'

He also mentioned that his face naturally looks unhappy sometimes, adding, “By the way, I might just be sitting at home, and people ask, ‘What’s wrong?'”

He also explained that sometimes his face naturally doesn't look happy and added, 'By the way, I also might be somebody who I do find myself - I'll be sitting at home, and they're like, "What's wrong?"'

“I’m like, ‘Nothing. I’m just thinking.’ Then I start wondering, is something wrong?” Affleck continued.

Earlier last year in February while attending the 65th Grammy Awards with wife, Jennifer, notably became a meme due to his rather disinterested expression at the event

Hart suggested there might be a reason for his ‘resting bh face,’ to which Affleck humorously replied, “Bh?! Now, I have a resting serious face.”

Social media users took to X to share their thoughts while some fans were left in hysterics over photos from the star-studded ceremony

When it comes to public scrutiny over his expressions, the Good Will Hunting star added, “People project things onto me that I don’t actually feel about myself.”

One typed out at the time, 'Ben Affleck, blink if you're okay #Grammys,' while another added, 'Ben Affleck doing the Ben Affleck meme again. #Grammys2023'

Earlier last year, at the 65th Grammy Awards with his wife Jennifer, Affleck became a meme due to his disinterested expression during the event.

'Ben Affleck looks like he is having a blast,' a fan wrote, and another shared, 'Why does Ben Affleck always look like he's 10 minutes away from crying during a much needed smoke break'

Social media users took to X to share their thoughts, with some finding humor in the situation. One user wrote, “Ben Affleck, blink if you’re okay #Grammys,” while another commented, “Ben Affleck doing the Ben Affleck meme again. #Grammys2023.”

Also during his latest chat with Kevin Hart, Ben discussed his estranged wife Jennifer Lopez as the two continue to lead separate lives - he is in Los Angeles this week while the diva parties in Capri

“Ben Affleck looks like he’s having a blast,” another fan remarked, and someone else added, “Why does Ben Affleck always look like he’s 10 minutes away from a much-needed smoke break?”

'We went somewhere with [Jennifer] - I can't remember because she's so famous, and she creates this - people love her, and she really represents something important to people,' Affleck began

Back in 2016, while promoting Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Affleck was the subject of ‘Sad Affleck’ memes due to his downcast expression during a press event with Henry Cavill.

In early 2022, Ben reflected on the 'Sad Affleck' memes during an interview with the Los Angeles Times - and its effect on his children; seen in March 2023 in Austin

In early 2022, Affleck reflected on the ‘Sad Affleck’ memes during an interview with the Los Angeles Times, particularly how they affected his children.

Affleck, who shares Violet, 18, Finn, 15, and Samuel, 12, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, with whom he was married from 2005 to 2018, stated, “I got to a point where [public perception] was so different from who I am that I just stopped reading and stopped caring.”

This comes after a source told DailyMail.com that Lopez is over trying to fix her marriage to Affleck

“But as my kids got older and started seeing the internet themselves, that’s when it became tough. Even the ‘Sad Affleck’ meme – it was funny to me. I meɑn, everyone has felt that way during a press junket.”Most recently, the On The Floor songstress was spotted enjoying a solo trip to Italy without Affleck; seen in January in Beverly Hills

“But then my kids see it, and I think, ‘Oh, are they going to think their dad is fundamentally sad or that they have to worry about me?’ That’s really tough.”

He also discussed how his private self differs from his public persona. “When I was younger, people saw me as someone who had too much or achieved success too easily, like some kind of cavalier, insincere, callow frat guy.”One of those new plans is resuming her This Is Me... Live tour for the summer of 2025 when she turns 56. She canceled the 2024 tour that was scheduled to kick off in July in order to 'recollect herself

“That was nothing like how I felt. I felt like this insecure, anxiоus, overly verbal kid from Boston who was trying to break into the business and dealing with his own issues.”

Affleck continued, “There’s an interesting contrast between how we come across and who we really are.”

During his chat with Kevin Hart, Affleck also talked about his estranged wife Jennifer Lopez. The two continue to lead separate lives, with Ben in Los Angeles while Lopez parties in Capri.

Although he didn’t address their marriage’s current status, likely because the interview was filmed months ago when Affleck had a full beard, which he shaved off in March for The Accountant 2, he did share insights about being married to someone so famous. The Air actor recounted a story about how fans went “bananas” upon seeing Lopez with him in Times Square, New York.

It turns out it was his idea to walk through the busy area with a superstar. “We went somewhere with [Jennifer] – I can’t remember where, but she’s so famous, and she creates this… people love her, and she really represents something important to them,” Affleck explained.

“[To me,] people sɑy, ‘Hey, I like your movie,’ and then they’re off.”
