“Sony Confirms ‘Uncharted 2’ with Tom Holland & Mark Wahlberg in Development Amid CineEurope Update”
Sony announced during their 2024 CineEurope trade show presentation that they are working on a sequel to the 2022 video game adaptation ‘Uncharted’ starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.
Alongside ‘Uncharted 2’, Sony highlighted other anticipated projects like the live-action video game adaptation ‘Zelda’ directed by Wes Ball.
The studio’s upcoming slate also includes Jason Reitman’s ‘SNL 1975′, the horror sequel ’28 Years Later’ from Danny Boyle, Taika Waititi’s ‘Klara and the Sun’, and Beatles biopics directed by Sam Mendes.
Despite Quentin Tarantino’s decision to scrap ‘The Movie Critic’, Sony remаins hopeful for future collaborations with the director.
The first ‘Uncharted’ film, directed by Ruben Fleischer and starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, featured a synopsis revolving around treasure hunting and adventure.
Despite mixed critical reception, ‘Uncharted’ was a box office success, grossing $407 million worldwide.
Mark Wahlberg hinted at reprising his role in ‘Uncharted 2’ by mentioning preparations for growing out his mustache again.
Sony’s upcoming releases also include ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ and other projects like ‘Kraven the Hunter’ and ‘Wolfs’.
