Jason Statham’s ‘Homefront’ Nearly Became a Rambo Movie

The 2013 action film “Homefront” starring Jason Statham was originally intended to be a sequel to the “Rambo” franchise with Sylvester Stallone. The screenplay was written by Sylvester Stallone based on the novel of the same name by Chuck Logan, revolving around the character John Rambo who becomes a DEA agent and has a daughter.

However, after developing the script, Stallone realized that the story did not fit the character of Rambo and decided to change direction. Instead of Rambo, the main character is transformed into Phil Broker, a former DEA agent who moves to a small town to live in seclusion with his daughter. However, his violent past is quickly exposed when he confronts a drug cartel led by Gator Bodine (James Franco).

While “Homefront” is no Rambo movie, it’s still an action thriller with an impressive performance from Statham. The film received mixed reviews from critics, but was a commercial success, grossing over $60 million worldwide.
