‘When I was 25 I had a 2-year-old’: Will Smith pokes fun at son Jaden on his 25th birthday

Will Smith humorously nudged his son Jaden Smith to consider starting a family as he marked Jaden’s 25th birthday with a light-hearted Instagram post on Saturday, July 8. The 54-year-old actor, who shares three children—Trey, 30, with ex-wife Sheree Zampino, and Jaden and Willow, 20, with wife Jada Pinkett Smith—posted a nostalgic black-and-white photo of himself with his arm around Jaden.

“Happy Birthday, J-Diggy. It’s crazy that you’re 25?! When I was 25 I had a two-year-old… I’m just sayin’… What’s up? What you doin’ over there?” Will captioned the post, adding, “Btw, this is my favourite picture of us.”

PreviewThe playful post garnered a humorous response from Jada’s mother, Adrienne Banfield Norris, who commented, “He’s smarter than you,” accompanied by laughing and winking emojis.

2004Jada Pinkett Smith also celebrated her son’s milestone birthday with a heartfelt tribute on social media. She shared a touching post featuring a photo of baby Jaden smiling as she kissed him, along with a more recent red carpet snapshot. “Happy 25th birthday my sweet, sweet Jaden!” she wrote.

2006Recently, Jaden revealed at the Psychedelic Science conference in Denver that his mother, Jada, was the first in their family to explore the use of psychedelic drugs. “I think it was my mom, actually, that was really the first one to make that step for the family,” Jaden disclosed. He explained that Jada’s influence eventually led other family members to explore psychedelics in their own ways.

2006Jaden shared that these experiences have profoundly strengthened his relationships with his sister Willow and half-brother Trey. “Siblings can argue so much and fight so much, and lord knows me and my siblings have done so much of that in the past. But the level of love and empathy that I can feel for them inside of the [psychedelic] experiences and outside of the experiences has been something that’s profound and beautiful,” he said.

20132013He further elaborated on how psychedelics have helped the family resolve differences, stating, “It will actually help us to open up our minds, to get out of the old ways of thinking that got us into lots of these arguments, and open it up so that it just releases and makes room for you to work it out and massage it out until it’s completely gone.”

2016Will’s light-hearted birthday wish and the family’s candid discussions about their personal growth underscore the close-knit and evolving dynamics of the Smith family.
