It may be 2014, but Alicia Keys embraced a retro style as she left her hotel in New York on Thursday.
The R&B singer appeared to channel 1930s gangster chic with a grey fedora hat and a heavy black overcoat, reminiscent of something Al Capone might have worn to conceal his Tommy gᴜn.
Beneath the coat, the 33-year-old sported a distressed grey and black suit jacket paired with sharply creased black trousers. She completed her look with masculine black lace-up shoes featuring a white frill detail.
The New York native kept her short hair hidden under the hat, which was pulled low over her flawlessly made-up face.
Alicia beamed as she headed to a waiting car. The star, who shares a three-year-old son, Egypt, with her husband, hip-hop star Swizz Beatz, has much to be cheerful about.
In January, the “If I Ain’t Got You” singer won her 15th Grammy Award for Best R&B Album, triumphing over John Legend, Faith Evans, Chrisette Michele, and TGT.
On Tuesday, Alicia announced her collaboration with Kendrick Lamar for “It’s On Again,” the lead track for the upcoming Spider-Man 2 soundtrack. She co-wrote the song with Pharrell Williams, Kendrick Lamar, and Hans Zimmer.
She shared the news on Twitter with a street art image of Spider-Man, saying: “It’s On Again with me, @kendricklamar @Pharrell and @RealHansZimmer!”
In a statement about the album, she expressed her excitement: “I’m very excited to be a part of such a powerful collaboration. We really feel ‘It’s On Again’ captures the experience, the story — and most importantly — the meaning behind the film, which is that we all have the potential to be extraordinary. There’s a little bit of a superhero in all of us.”
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is set for release on April 22, with the movie premiering in the US on May 2 and in the UK on April 18.
