Tom Holland was in high spirits as he left the Duke of York’s Theatre following his Saturday night performance of Romeo and Juliet.
The 27-year-old Marvel star beamed and waved to a large crowd of fans as he made his way to a waiting car. Dressed in an all-black outfit with a denim jacket, white trainers, and a crossbody bag, the Uncharted actor looked thrilled as fans called out his namе and took photos.
On Friday, fans shared the extreme lengths they went to just to catch a glimpse of Holland. Supporters from France and Canada, as well as others who traveled hours across the UK, gathered outside the theatre. Many didn’t have tickets for his opening night, which received mixed reviews, but patiently waited for a brief sighting of the Marvel favorite.
Holland waved and thanked the crowd as he arrived at the theatre on Friday, met with cheers and screams. Among the fans were Marie, 18, and Lila, 19, who took a nine-hour coach from Paris and booked a hotel for three nights to see the actor. Marie told MailOnline, “Yesterday we saw him, just his back, but we came to see him again today.”
TC, a 26-year-old event planner, waited an hour to see Holland enter the theatre and was excited to watch the performance from the third row. She said, “I love theatre and Tom Holland, so this is my dream.”
In February, over 60,000 fans scrambled to buy tickets for Holland’s West End run, selling out in two hours. Tickets are now being resold for around £300 each.
Serena, 23, and Yasmine, 22, traveled from Toronto and queued outside the theatre hoping to get returned tickets, but were disappointed when none were available. They planned to try again the next day.
Grace, 21, a self-proclaimed big Tom Holland fan, managed to get a ticket for her birthday and said she would pay up to £300 to see him. Her mother, Helen, showed off drawings Grace made of Holland and Zendaya, expressing her own admiration for the actor.
After weeks of preview performances and cancellations, Romeo and Juliet officially opened on May 23. That evening, Holland was seen walking hand in hand with Zendaya to greet fans.
However, the excitement has waned for local staff. Luann, 27, who works at the Hub by Premier Inn next to the theatre, said, “I’ve seen Tom Holland so often that I’m bored of seeing him now.” Nina, a waitress at Cafe La Rouche, shared a less enthusiastic view of the ongoing fan frenzy.
