Alicia Keys led a demonstration in New York City to raise awareness about the more than 200 Nigerian schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram militants in April.
Keys initiated the protest with 30 others at the Nigerian consulate, holding signs advocating for the girls’ return and safer schools.
They chanted slogans like “Bring back our girls” and “We want them back alive!” as they marched, garnering attention from passersby who stopped to capture the event.
Keys, who is pregnant, expressed her empathy as a mother on her son’s fourth birthday, standing in solidarity with the abducted Chibok girls’ mothers.
The 33-year-old, known for her social activism, recently launched the “We Are Here” movement and released a song of the same namе.
Her husband, Swizz Beatz, also joined the protest, emphasizing the ongoing need to remember the missing schoolgirls’ plight.
Keys highlighted the lack of tangible progress in the girls’ return and stressed the importance of continued awareness and advocacy.
