Tom Holland and Zendaya are opening up about managing relationships in the public eye.

In an interview for GQ’s Mеn of the Year edition, Holland talked about his friendship with Zendaya and his desire to keep his personal life private. The 25-year-old Spider-Man: No Way Home costars were seen cuddling in a car together during the summer.

“One downside of our famе is that privacy is no longer in our control, and moments between two people who love each other become shared with the entire world,” Holland told the news outlet.

“I already share so much of my life with the world, so I’ve been adamant about keeping my private life private,” he continued. “It’s not about being unready; it’s about being unwilling.”

Zendaya has been “instrumental” in Holland’s life in recent years, he shared with GQ. The Euphoria star told the magazine that having her private life exposed feels “confusing and invasive.”

“When you really love and care about someone, there are moments you wish were your own,” she said. “Loving someone is sacred and special, something you want to experience and enjoy privately.”

Holland added that they will decide together when to share details about their relationship. “This is not my story. It’s our story. When the time is right, we’ll discuss it together,” he said.

In July 2017, a source told PEOPLE that Zendaya and Holland had started dating. “They began dating while filming Spider-Man,” the source said. “They’ve been careful to keep it private and out of the public eye but have gone on vacations together and try to spend as much time as possible with each other.”

Another source noted, “They push each other and are very ambitious, but most importantly, they make each other laugh. They share a similar sense of humor and enjoy exchanging jokes.”

In an October interview with InStyle, Zendaya couldn’t help but praise Holland. When asked about her Spider-Man co-star, she said, “There are many things I appreciate about him.”

She added, “From an actor’s perspective, I love that he genuinely enjoys playing Spider-Man. There’s a lot of pressure because you always have to act like a superhero.”

No Way Home, the third Spider-Man film featuring Zendaya and Holland, hits theaters on December 17.
