Keanu Reeves arrived at Berlin’s Potsdam Babelsberg studios on Wednesday to continue his work on the latest installment of the John Wick franchise, John Wick 4.

The 56-year-old actor was warmly dressed and appeared to be in high spirits as he parked his car and made his way into the studio. Reeves donned a black coat over slim black trousers, complemented by a two-tone beanie and a comfortable scarf. Despite his beard, he seemed cheerful as he exited the parking lot.

The cast and crew of the upcoming film are gearing up to begin principal photography in June, signaling the next chapter in the action-thriller series. Development for the fourth entry officially commenced shortly after the release of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum in May 2019.

Director Chad Stahelski shared in an interview with Collider last April that the creative team had ambitious plans for the upcoming movie. He mentioned submitting an extensive thematic plan, indicating aspirations beyond a simple John Wick 4. Stahelski emphasized the team’s satisfaction with the story outline and development process, expressing contentment with their current direction.

Stahelski assured fans that the new film would maintain its focus on high-octane action, underscoring his and his creative partner David Leitch’s background as experienced stuntmen and choreographers who value the franchise’s origins. Production for the fourth John Wick movie will primarily take place in Berlin and Paris, with additional locations in New York City and Japan.

Initially, there were plans to film a fifth installment back-to-back with the fourth, but this idea was eventually scrapped, leaving the future of a potential fifth installment uncertain. Originally scheduled for release this year, John Wick 4’s premiere date was pushed back to May 27, 2022, due to the global pаndemic, also avoiding a scheduling cоnflict with Reeves’ other major project, the fourth film in The Matrix series.

The John Wick franchise is expanding, with several spin-offs in development. One such project, a female-led film titled Ballerina, has been in the works since 2017. Reports last May suggested Chloe Grace Moretz was being considered for the lead role. Additionally, a television series titled The Continental, focusing on the in-universe hotel of the same nаme, has been in development for three years and is set to premiere on Starz soon. Reeves is expected to reprise his role as John Wick for this series.
