The opening scene of John Wick: Chapter 4 was not created using CGI, as director Chad Stahelski revealed. Instead, they filmed in the Jordanian desert with the assistance of a real king.
During the opening sequence set in the Jordanian desert, which features John Wick racing on horseback and pursuing his enemies, director Chad Stahelski disclosed that the scene was not digitally created. Contrary to popular belief, they filmed the scenes on location in the actual desert.
In a conversation with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, Stahelski shared insights into the making of the 2023 movie. He emphasized that the stunning sunrise captured in the scene was authentic and not digitally enhanced. Additionally, he mentioned that they received assistance from the King of Jordan, who provided a helicopter for capturing the iconic sunrise shot.
While Stahelski expressed pride in the authenticity of the scene, he also hinted at a potentially tragic ending for John Wick. Even before the release of the fourth film, Stahelski suggested that the character’s story may not conclude with a happy resolution. He emphasized that despite Wick’s survival through countless challenges, there might not be a peaceful outcome for him, considering the extensive viоlence he has been involved in.
Despite the grave shown in John Wick: Chapter 4, indicating Wick’s demise, fans speculate that he is merely taking a break. As for the future of the franchise, John Wick 5 is confirmed to be in development, although specific details remain unknown.
