ļ»æKeanu Reeves steps into the role of magician’s assistant on the latest episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC. The 59-year-old actor, who recently experienced a burglary at his home, was called upon by renowned illusionist David Blaine, 50, to assist him with a daring stunt promoting his upcoming magic shows in Las Vegas.
While Reeves was originally scheduled to perform with his band Dogstar, Fallon also invited them to join Blaine for some magic alongside Questlove and Tariq Trotter from house band The Roots.
Blaine assured the group that the stunt wouldn’t be too extreme. He began by swallowing a piece of thread and then brought it back up, with Questlove assisting.
Next, Blaine involved Reeves in a card triĻ²k, wherein Fallon stabbed a card matching one chosen by Reeves from a separate deck. Blaine’s subsequent stunt saw him push a serrated kšife up his nostril, a move met with astonishment from Fallon and Reeves, who confirmed the kšife’s authenticity.
Reeves then carefully extracted the kšife, and Blaine used it to puncture a table. The segment concluded with a performance by Dogstar, featuring Reeves on guitar.
The show also featured actor TimothĆ©e Chalamet, 27, promoting his new film Wonka. Blaine discussed his upcoming Vegas shows, emphasizing their interactive and unpredictable nature, blending magic with an element of dÉnger.
Fallon, the host of The Tonight Show since 2014, has faced allegations of creating a “tŠ¾xic work environment,” as reported by Rolling Stone in September.
