Antonio Brown didn’t hold back when reacting to Kevin Hart’s joke about him during Tom Brady’s roast on Sunday.
At “The Roast of Tom Brady” on Netflix, the comedian quipped that Brady’s ex-wife, Gisele Bundchen, attended the event as the controversial former NFL wide receiver’s plus-one.
“Gisele is actually here supporting you tonight, but just full transparency—she came as Antonio Brown’s plus 1,” Hart joked, causing the crowd to react and the camera to cut to Brady, who smiled awkwardly at the comment. Hart added, “What did I sаy?”
Soon after, Brown posted a clip of the joke on X with the caption, “In the crowd as Giselle’s +1” accompanied by a laughing emoji.
Brady and Bundchen were together for 16 years and married for 13 before divorcing in 2022. They share two children, Benjamin and Vivian. The divorce came after Brady decided to un-retire to play another season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which led to rumors about marital problems, eventually resulting in their separation.
Bundchen released a statement after the divorce, saying, “The decision to end a marriage is never easy. But we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always.”
Brown and Brady were teammates briefly in New England and later in Tampa Bay, where they won a Sᴜper Bowl together in 2021. They famously connected on a one-yard touchdown pass during the Sᴜper Bowl win against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Brown previously posted a photo of Bundchen hugging him when rumors of Brady and Bundchen’s marital issues first emerged. His time in the NFL, despite his immense talent, was marred by allegations of sexᴜal assaᴜlt, domestic viоlence, public indecency, and mistreatment of staff.
After playing for the Steelers, Raiders, Patriots, and Buccaneers, Brown’s career ended abruptly with the Buccaneers in 2021. Although he briefly un-retired to join the Albany Empire in 2023, he eventually announced his retirement again in April 2024.
