Tom Holland missed the 2024 Met Gala in New York City on Monday because he’s recovering from a minor head i𝚗jury he sustained while playing golf.
The 27-year-old actor’s girlfriend, Zendaya, who is also 27, was one of the co-chairs for the event, leading fans to anticipate that the “Spider-Man: No Way Home” star would accompany her.
However, Holland revealed on Instagram that he had a red brᴜise on his forehead from an accide𝚗t while golfing in Scotland late last month. He captioned the photo with, “Whoever said golf isn’t a contact sport is full of s**t. You can almost see the dimples.”
Despite his absence, Tom showed support for Zendaya by sharing photos on social media of two of her stunning Met Gala outfits, accompanied by three heart-eye emojis in the caption.
Holland also tagged his father, Dominic Holland’s, Patreon page in the Instagram story, linking to a humorous explanation of how the injᴜry happened. Dominic explained that his son was struck by a golf ball Һit from 80 yards away by a friend who should have aimed better.
Fortunately, the i𝚗jury wasn’t severe, but Tom was taken to the hospital for precautionary checks. Witnesses reported that the actor, who plays golf with a six handicap, was unaware the ball was coming his way until it Һit him.
Holland was playing at St. Andrews in Fife for the first Tom Holland Charity Golf Day, benefiting The Brothers Trust and the Sands: International Film Festival of St. Andrews.
He later appeared at the opening gala of the film festival at the Byre Theatre with a noticeable red mark on his forehead.
Meanwhile, Zendaya dazzled at the Met Gala with four different outfit changes. Her first look was a custom blue and green gown by Maison Margiela with branch and fruit accents, fitting the event’s theme. She accessorised with a veiled hat and a faux bird perched on her shoulder.
Her second look was a black Givenchy gown that showed off her cleavage and slim waist, paired with an Alexander McQueen floral headpiece. She also wore a pink sequined gown with a plunging neckline when speaking alongside her fellow co-chairs, and later switched to a Grecian-style dress for the after-party.
Zendaya and Tom met on the set of the “Spider-Man” trilogy in 2016 and confirmed their relationship in 2021. Recent reports suggest that marriage could be in their future, with a source indicating they have discussed it. Despite their celebrity status, they prefer to keep their relationship private and focus on their careers, which currently keep them busy.
