Zendaya made a surprise appearance at the Met Gala with a second high-fashion ensemble on Monday.
The 27-year-old actress, who serves as a co-chair for the event, impressed in a 1996 Givenchy gown by John Galliano, paired with an Alexander McQueen floral hat from 2007.
Her black dress accentuated her décolletage and slim waistline, complemented by a softer makeup look that drew attention to her floral headpiece.
Earlier in the evening, the “Challengers” star made waves in a custom blue-and-green Maison Margiela gown by John Galliano, adorned with branch and fruit motifs.
Zendaya accessorized with a Bulgari necklace and a striking veiled hat, featuring drаmаtic eye makeup, thinned eyebrows, and dark lipstick.
She added a faux bird on one shoulder and a large feather in her hat.
The Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, held on the first Monday in May, takes place at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The theme for this year’s event is “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and the dress code is “The Garden of Time.”
Co-chairs for the event include Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth. Vogue’s Anna Wintour also serves on the committee.
Honorary chairs are Loewe’s creative director Jonathan Anderson and TιkTоk’s CEO Shou Zi Chew.
Vogue shared that this year’s co-chairs represent a diverse range of career achievements, and each has a unique style history with the Met Gala.
The exhibition will showcase about 250 items from The Costume Institute’s permanent collection, many of which are too delicate to be worn again.
The pieces will be displayed with advanced elements like AI and CGI, focusing on themes of land, sea, and sky.
Andrew Bolton, the Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute, described the exhibit as an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion, hoping to inspire a sensorial appreciation of fashion.
Expected guests at the Met Gala include the Kardashians, Blake Lively, Hailey Bieber, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Timothee Chalamet.
The event will be hosted by Gwendoline Christie, La La Anthony, and Ashley Graham, with YouTuber Emma Chamberlain set to interview stars on the red carpet.
Last year’s gala honored the late designer Karl Lagerfeld.
