Keanu Reeves recently shared a humorous story about giving celebrated director Francis Ford Coppola magic mushrooms as a birthday gift while filming Bram Stoker’s Dracula in 1992.
Reeves recounted the incident on the Inside Of You Podcast with Michael Rosenbaum, revealing that upon learning it was Coppola’s birthday, he decided to gift him an eighth of mushrooms. The actor chuckled as he remembered Coppola’s positive response, mentioning that the director took the mushrooms and later expressed his enjoyment of the unique birthday present.
During the podcast appearance, Reeves shared this amusing anecdote alongside his Dogstar bandmates, drummer Robert Mailhouse, and vocalist Bret Domrose. The trio recently made a comeback with their first album in 23 years, Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees, marking their return to the music scene.
Originally formed in 1991 by Reeves and Mailhouse, Dogstar has a history of creating music and has previously released albums like Our Little Visionary and Happy Ending. Earlier this year, they announced their return with the release of a new single, “Everything Turns Around,” accompanied by a music video. The band expressed excitement about the track, describing it as a “fun summer song” with an uplifting message.
In 2023, the band toured the United States, and Reeves was captured on film playing catch with a young boy before their concert in Houston, Texas, showcasing a heartwarming interaction with fans.
