Keanu Reeves has thrilled his fans by making a comeback on stage with Dogstar, marking more than two decades since his last performance with the band. Despite his illustrious film career, the 58-year-old John Wick actor showcased his musical prowess with the rock group from 1991 until their hiatus in 2002.
After a prolonged period of silence, Dogstar hinted at a potential return to the limelight, culminating in a surprise appearance at the BottleRock Napa Valley festival. Images surfaced of Keanu, along with bandmates Bret Domrose and Robert Mailhouse, performing in the sunlight. The trio delivered a mix of their classic hits and pleasantly surprised the audience with unreleased new tracks.
Despite the extended hiatus, the A-list actor appeared entirely at ease in front of the crowd, and fans couldn’t help but notice that he had intentionally coordinated his outfit—comprising a black T-shirt and vibrant trousers—with his bass guitar.
Social media buzzed with praise for Keanu’s performance and his sartorial choice. Enthusiastic fans flooded platforms with comments expressing their delight at seeing the actor on stage again.
Reflecting on the reunion, Keanu shared that his bandmate, Robert, provided uplifting advice before their performance. “He was just sᴜper positive,” Keanu told the San Francisco Chronicle. “He was like, ‘Listen to the music. Just be present in the song, and it will go from there.’ Today was like our first kind of foray out. The band wants to play. We have a record, so we’re just kind of trying to figure out the best way to marry those two things.”
Originally composed of Keanu, Robert, and Gregg Miller, Dogstar underwent changes when Bret replaced Gregg in 1995. Notable tracks from their repertoire include “Superstar,” “Slipping Down,” “Halo,” and “No Matter What.”
In a previous interview with Billboard, Keanu expressed his deep longing for performing with the group, emphasizing how much he missed the collaborative aspects of playing and creating music with Robert and Bret. The reunion was driven by the desire to recapture the positive and creative energy they experienced when making music together.
