Keanu Reeves has revealed a new career shift away from the film industry, announcing that he has co-authored his inaugural novel.
The John Wick actor shared the news during a pre-recorded segment on Good Morning America, where he disclosed his collaboration with acclaimed author China Miéville on the upcoming book titled “The Book of Elsewhere.”
This novel is situated within the realm of the BRZRKR comic series, a universe initially created by Reeves in partnership with writer Matt Kindt and artist Ron Garney. The narrative revolves around an immortal warrior embarking on a quest to unravel the mysteries behind his bestowed eternal life.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Reeves stated, “It was extraordinary to have the opportunity to collaborate on ‘The Book of Elsewhere’ with one of my favourite authors, China Miéville.” He praised Miéville’s clear vision and approach to the story, emphasizing his thrill and honor to contribute to the collaborative process.
Miéville reciprocated the excitement, remarking on the unеxpеctеd joy and generosity in collaborating with Reeves on a project involving characters the actor had invested considerable time in creating. He expressed hope that readers would derive pleasure from the book, akin to the enjoyment he experienced during the collaborative writing process.
The BRZRKR comic, boasting the best-selling debut in over 25 years, continues its expansion with a Netflix live-action film featuring Reeves and an anime spin-off.
In addition to his literary venture, Reeves will revisit his iconic role as John Wick in the upcoming spin-off film, Ballerina. Scheduled between the second and third installments of the franchise, the movie stars Reeves alongside Ana de Armas from No Time to Diе.
“The Book of Elsewhere” is set for publication in July, while “Ballerina” is slated for release on June 7. Fans can also access the John Wick movies on various platforms, including Prime Video, DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD.
