The scene, featuring a real Romanian priest, has led both actors to humorously claim that they might be legitimately married. Director Francis Ford Coppola has supported this notion, acknowledging the authenticity of the ceremony they filmed.

In a 2018 interview, Ryder revealed, “We actually got married in ‘Dracula.’ No, I swear to God I think we’re married in real life. In that scene, Francis [Ford Coppola] used a real Romanian priest. We shot the master, and he did the whole thing. So I think we’re married.”
