Billie Eilish showcased her distinctive fashion sense at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards in Palm Springs, California. Accompanied by her brother and collaborator Finneas, they were honored with the Chairman’s Award for their Һit “What Was I Made For?” in the Barbie movie.
Eilish, 22, caught attention on the red carpet with a black Playboy backpack, sporting a luxurious black puffer jacket over a white button-up shirt and a skinny black tie. She paired cropped black pants with shiny Gucci loafers and white crew socks. Chunky silver rings adorned her hands, along with a striking diamond pinky ring.
The “Bad Guy” artist let her raven tresses and bold red money pieces flow from under a patterned Gucci head scarf. Y2K-inspired sunglasses with a yellow tint added a quirky touch to her ensemble.
Finneas, in a stylish black velvet jacket and trousers, accessorized with a small black bow tie and black-framed shades. The duo joined fellow Golden Globe nominees on the red carpet, including Margot Robbie, Lily Gladstone, and Emma Stone.
Billie and Finneas collaborated on “What Was I Made For?” earning them a Best Original Song nomination. The song received acclaim, named the Best Song of 2023 by Variety. Praised for its double-meaning lyricism and stripped-down delivery, it debuted with a music video featuring Eilish as a platinum blonde doll-like figure.
In an Apple Music interview, Eilish shared that the collaboration for the Barbie soundtrack came unexpectedly. Director Greta Gerwig invited them to watch a rough cut of the movie, inspiring them to create the song. Billie, initially unsure about contributing, recalled Finneas playing the piano, and the lyrics flowed effortlessly.
Reflecting on the writing process, Eilish realized the personal nature of the lyrics and emphasized the trippy experience of the creative journey. In addition to co-writing and starring in the video, she took on the role of director, expressing pride in her directorial debut and describing the vision behind it.
