Billie Eilish delivered a heartfelt acceptance speech at the 2024 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards, where she and her brother Finneas O’Connell were honored with the Chairman’s Award on January 4 at the Palm Springs Convention Center in California.
The 22-year-old singer-songwriter took a moment to apologize for being perceived as “Ԁark” during her speech.
Billie and Finneas were recognized for writing the song “What Was I Made For?” featured in the movie Barbie.
In her address, Billie dedicated the award to those who grapple with hopelessness and existential dread, expressing understanding of the universal feeling of questioning life’s purpose. She candidly shared, “We all feel like that occasionally.
I have really not wɑnted to be here. Sorry, dark, Ԁɑmn. I’ve spent a lot of time feeling that way. I want to sɑy to anyone that feels that way, be patient with yourself, and know that it’s worth it all. And I think it’s good to be alive,” as reported by Variety.
