Zendaya and her parents have a great relationship. Despite owning several homes, the internationally acclaimed actress (“Euphoria,” “Dune,” and the “Spider-Man” franchise) was still living with either her mother Claire Stoermer, or her divorced father Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, an Oakland native; the two are still close “homies,” according to Zendaya.
According to public documents, the 26-year-old has joined A-list superstars The Rock, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Beyoncé in buying homes for their parents, spending $1.9M on a home for her father. The stately mansion is hidden away in the San Fernando Valley’s West Hills neighborhood, adjacent to Woodland Hills and Calabasas, in the far-flung suburbs of Los Angeles.
The two-story property, built in the 1990s, was last sold for $1.1M in 2008, following which it was renovated. The main level of the house includes new hardwood floors and a double-height foyer with periwinkle-colored walls.
The formal dining room has French doors that go directly to the pool area, and the living and family rooms both have fireplaces. White quartz counters and dark brown cabinets distinguish the newly remodelled kitchen, which features eat-in bar seating and is connected to the family space.
The approximately 3,400 square foot building has five bedrooms, two on the first floor and three upstairs. The upstairs master retreat has a dedicated sitting area, a newly renovated bathroom and a private terrace with views of the mountains and city lights. One of the downstairs rooms has been converted into an office.
A raised Jacuzzi next to the pool, grassy front and backyards, and a built-in BBQ centre with a bar seating area are among the other outdoor amenities. Aside from a covered loggia for some outdoor relief from the oppressive San Fernando Valley heat, there is also a circular fire pit for burning marshmallows on chilly nights. The property is hidden away within a fancy home development, where HOA dues of $205 per month help fund a neighbourhood security patrol and the upkeep of communal areas that mimic parks.
