Keanu Reeves recently shared a lighthearted anecdote about giving renowned director Francis Ford Coppola magic mushrooms as a birthday present during the filming of Bram Stoker’s Dracula in 1992.
Reeves, reminiscing about the incident on the Inside Of You Podcast with Michael Rosenbaum, revealed that he had an eighth of mushrooms and decided to gift them to Coppola upon learning it was his birthday.
The actor chuckled as he recalled Coppola’s positive response, stating that the director took them and later expressed that he enjoyed the unique birthday gift.
Reeves shared this amusing story during an appearance on the podcast alongside his Dogstar bandmates, drummer Robert Mailhouse and vocalist Bret Domrose.
The trio recently released their first album in 23 years, Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees, showcasing their return to the music scene.
The band, originally formed by Reeves and Mailhouse in 1991, has a history of creating music and previously released albums such as Our Little Visionary and Happy Ending.
Earlier this year, they announced their comeback with the release of a new single, “Everything Turns Around,” accompanied by a music video. The group expressed excitement about the track, describing it as a “fun summer song” with an uplifting message.
The band toured the United States in 2023, and Reeves was captured on film playing catch with a young boy before their concert in Houston, Texas, showcasing a heartwarming interaction with fans.
