Earlier today, Ariana’s co-star Cynthia Erivo—who portrays Elphaba, the Wicked WitcҺ of the West—was also photographed outdoors while wearing all-green makeup for a scene.

Ariana’s outfit featured a torso covered in swirls of lavender, along with purple and light blue.

The 29-year-old pop superstar and occasional actress was seen smiling happily with 35-year-old British actor Jonathan Bailey.

This also appears to be the first time Bailey has filmed an adaptation of the popular stage musical, a prequel to The Wizard Of Oz based on the novel by Gregory Maguire.

Ariana’s dress also had fibers mixed in to make it sparkle in the light. Her dress featured ruffled shoulder embellishments that stood up in the air, as well as sheer sleeves with added sequins.

The dress has a skirt made of flowing tulle with lots of sequins. Ariana also completed her outfit with a silver tiara, which consisted of swirling flowers that delicately sat atop her long blonde hair, pulled back and cascading down her shoulders.

In his royal blue uniform adorned with golden details and tasseled epaulets, Jonathan resembled a young prince. He wore a second coat of the same color, which he slung over one shoulder. She wore tall black boots that matched her trousers, and a parted head of dark hair.

The cast also includes Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh (Oscar winner), Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live), Bronwyn James, Keala Settle, Adam James, and Keala Settle.

While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live last month, Goldblum announced his casting in the film. My most recent film role was in Wicked. I really should not bring that up. He did, however, boast about the acting prowess of his witches, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.

It would seem like a no-brainer to adapt Wicked for the stage, given the success of musicals, but the project has been oddly postponed for years. The beginning of the ongoing CоVID-19 pаndemic is another objective reason; it caused further delays in filming and slowed down production.

Both the first and second films are currently scheduled to premiere in theatres on November 27, 2024, and December of the following year, respectively.
