They crossed paths on the set of Wicked, the upcoming film based on the smаsh Broadway musical.
Some special love for Ariana Grande’s boyfriend Ethan Slater is included in her Christmas decorations.
The 30-year-old Grammy-winning singer posted a photo carousel to Instagram on Thursday. One of the images showed a green garland Christmas tree with an ornament resembling a Spam can.
The ornament is obviously a reference to Spamalot, the Tony-winning musical that adapted Monty Python and The Holy Grail in 2005. Fans will immediately recognise it. Broadway is now hosting a revival of the comedy, which features Slater, 31, in multiple roles.
Since the musical’s October rehearsals began, Grande has been a recurrent visitor to New York City’s St. James Theatre to watch Slater perform. She was in attendance for both the opening night of the Broadway musical on November 15 and the show’s first preview performance on Halloween, where she was seen cheering him on.
While she and her friends were sitting in the Spamalot audience, she also uploaded a number of selfies to her Instagram Story on Thursday.
A romance blossomed between Grande and Slater offscreen after they met on set of the upcoming Wicked movie.
Their relationship started after her divorce from Dalton Gomez and Slater’s divorce from Lilly Jay; PEOPLE was the first to confirm their relationship in July. Their two-year marriage ended in October when Grande and Gomez, both 28 years old, finalised their divorce.
Theatrical musicals are something that Grande and Slater both enjoy. As SpongeBob SquarePants in 2017’s The Broadway Musical, he made his stage debut. Grande also began her Broadway career with Jason Robert Brown’s 2008 musical 13, which was a brief run.

Although Grande and Slater have made multiple appearances at Spamalot, they have not yet graced the red carpet.
Even if they’re romantically involved offscreen, you won’t see that in Wicked. Slater plays the role of Boq, a Munchkin with feelings for Grande’s Glinda in the musical. She doesn’t care about him and, to his disappointment, hands him over to her sister Nessarose (Marissa Bode).
There were only ten days left to shoot the film adaptation before it was halted due to the writer’s strike. The film will be divided into two parts. But the film’s release date seems unaffected by the production freeze. The first installment of Wicked will premiere in theatres on November 27, 2024, with the second installment following a year later, on November 26, 2025.
In another part of her Thursday Instagram post, Grande showed off a mirror selfie in which she wore a black minidress with a turtleneck and posed next to a string of Christmas lights laid out on the floor.
